Trent Bailey Photography http://www.trentbailey.com Tue, 18 Jun 2013 15:50:49 +0000 en-US hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.5.1 A Central Park Elopement | Mandy + Mal http://www.trentbailey.com/blog/the-central-park-elopement-mandy-mal/ http://www.trentbailey.com/blog/the-central-park-elopement-mandy-mal/#comments Wed, 12 Jun 2013 16:00:45 +0000 admin http://www.trentbailey.com/?p=4170 I’ve written and then re-written this blog post…trying to find the right words, but I just couldn’t find them.  Being a part of Mandy & Mal’s wedding day in Central Park was one of the favorite moments I’ve had photographing weddings.  The day was just beautiful, Mandy & Mal were beautiful, and their families beamed with absolute joy as they celebrated the love these two women have for each other.  Mandy & Mal are from South Louisiana, not far from where I grew up.  Mandy searched and searched for new york city photographers to shoot their central park vows, and as luck would have it, she found our site.  Only later did we realize that we had so many mutual friends.   It’s beautiful how life works, and how connected we all.  After they said their I-Do’s Mandy & Mal surprised their families with a Louisiana Jazz Brass band to do the traditional New Orleans second line through the streets of the Upper West Side. New Yorkers got a taste of how we do things in the south, and I think they all liked it (a lot).

I so excited to share this beautiful wedding day with the readers of New York Weddings Magazine on newsstands now!

We feel so privileged to have grown a great friendship with the Trae and Chelsea and help document their journey in life as new parents to Miss Wren Watlington.

Below are before and after sessions of Trae and Chelsea in their old neighborhood, South Street Seaport. (We miss the Seaport and all of our friends who had to move due to Sandy!)

Trae & Chelsea are so easy to photograph with such great style. We personally love Chelsea’s look for this before session. It’s a Hatch Collection dress and Jacket! (Similar styles here and here)

Beautiful Wren was born in August and we were so excited to meet her (and to photograph her of course).

A few months back I was asked by a photographer on the west coast, Ari to do a 1 on 1 session with her while she was in NYC.  I’m a big believer in learning from other photographers, either through assisting, classes, or 1 on 1 sessions, and was honored to teach Ari all I know about shooting film, and developing and growing photographic vision.  We did the session the day after last years Noreaster…which made for a frigid day, but also beautiful with snow on the ground.  The shoot was so effortlessly styled by my talented wife and included two new fall/winter hats that will soon be available in her online shop as well as a new bowtie style.
